DISCIPLESHIP DEVELOPMENT
6:00 PM
The goal of Discipleship Development is to provide group studies that seek to help persons to become Christ-like in every area of life. These studies usually have from One (1) to thirteen (13) sessions. Occasionally, some will have more sessions for a particular reason. The studies are available primarily on Sunday evenings. On many occasions the studies are "off campus" and occur in homes.
There is a great deal of confusion among individuals and churches about what Christian Discipleship means. What does scripture really teach and what does it mean to be a Christ-Follower in today's culture?
Dallas Williard, Author and Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern California, and an outspoken Christ-Follower has said, "As Jesus' disciple, I am learning from Him how to live my life as He would live my life if He were I. God's intention for each of us is that we should grow to the point where He can empower us to do what we want." This is the objective of Discipleship Training at First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe, so that our desires would be so Christ-like that God can empower us to accomplish them. WHAT A MONUMENTAL CHALLENGE! Join us in our search and striving for Christian Development.
