Our History & Vision…
The First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe began as a church plant in February of 1952, when a mission team from First Baptist Church of Rossville came to Fort Oglethorpe and began meeting in a church bus on Forrest Road. The goal was to share the gospel with the Fort Oglethorpe community and to see lives changed for the glory of God.
The mission team grew as people joined together to reach this community by the power of the Holy Spirit. The team moved into the old fire hall later in 1952 and eventually acquired property to develop its own campus. By 1953, the team had become the First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe and had begun development of the first worship center and education building here on LaFayette Road.
Over the years, God has blessed this church with steady growth and with additions to our church campus. The most recent additions came in 2009 with a new entrance and welcome center, a Family Life Fitness Center, an elevator, a new choir room, classrooms, and upgrades to our children’s and other facilities. With these campus additions, our goal remains the same: To serve our community by the power of the Holy Spirit and to see lives forever changed for the glory of God.
